Welcome to Hambledon Methodist Church

Hambledon Methodist chapel first opened its doors in July 1864 and is typical of the numerous Methodist chapels that sprang up, largely by public subscription, throughout the rural parts of Hampshire. Firmly rooted in the so called "Primitive" tradition of Methodism, the Chapel now forms part of the Meon Valley circuit with a strong focus on evangelism. Hambledon Chapel, although retaining many of its original features, continues to evolve to meet the changing needs of the community and to bring the Christian message to the village and the wider neighbourhood. Recently, fully renovated, the Chapel has full disabled access and the benefit of an attached hall with catering facilities. Hambledon is fortunate to have the part time services of a Methodist lay worker who provides outreach into the local community. We are a warm and welcoming Christian community. The Chapel offers a range of services but the general format consists of 2 Sunday services, led either by the Circuit Minister, the Reverend David Moss or by visiting lay preachers. Services can be free form, but as at other Methodist chapels the emphasis is on 3 strands of worship: praise through songs and hymns, prayer and exploring the Gospel. We share the sacrament of Holy Communion when the Circuit Minister or a visiting Minister leads the service. Further details are shown overleaf and on the notice board outside the chapel.
